when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.
There are all sorts of reasons that we sometimes feel as if our wings have been clipped, or maybe it has been so long since we flew, we have forgotten what the feeling is like, or that we can even still fly. Time has a way of marching on, sometimes robbing us of our enthusiasm for living and the idealism we once held regarding the change we thought we could bring to the world.
We need as friends to encourage one another, lifting each other up, and telling one another it is okay to fly, and to fly high. A few years back I fell in love with Bette Middler’s song, “Wind Beneath My Wings” from the soundtrack of the movie, “Beaches”, because it recognizes and applauds those friends who are the wind beneath our wings.
I have been blessed by many of you reading this right now who have been, and continue to be, “the wind beneath my wings”. Thanks for helping me to soar. I hope you all have friends who will lift you to your feet when your wings have trouble remembering how to fly, and that you’ll always be that kind of friend also.
